Item: Fixing points
The fixing points shown on the enclosed template makes the unit to be too low for use when cooking. The template shows the wall bracket mounting holes to be 667.1 mm – 767.1 mm above the Cooktop.
We have an electric cooktop and therefore this dimension is detailed as 667.1 mm. As the height results in the cooker hood being very low, we initially mounted the bracket at the 767.1 mm height, which again was too low. Subsequently we mounted the bracket 90mm higher (857.1 mm) which is now an ideal height.
Item: Ducting hose (Aluminium Exhaust Pipe)
It is almost impossible to secure the ducting hose onto the cooker hood using the cable ties provided. The reason being that by hand the collar of the hose cannot be tightened so that it is secure on the exhaust port of the cooker hood. Upon inspection, the reason why the ducting pipe couldn’t be secured adequately by hand is that a plastic collar insert that keeps the cooker hood end of the hose in shape has an overlap secured with adhesive which prevents the hose collar to be reduced to the size of the cooker hood port (need to close by circa 5 mm in diameter). We removed circa 35 mm of this overlap and adhesive and then the hose fitted securely.
Item: Chimney fixing screws
The fixing screws for the chimney are poor and do not tighten adequately onto the brackets. We purchased better self-tapping screws which secured the chimney correctly.
Item: Chimney for use with exhaust hose.
The upper part of the chimney only has fixing screws at the vent ends and therefore the aluminium hose can be viewed through these vents. It would be an advantage to have fixing holes at both ends so that the upper chimney can be fitted without the vents uppermost. We have put black blanking covers inside the upper chimney over the vents so that the aluminium pipe cannot be seen.
Item: Angle of front plate when using hood.
Due to the fitment of the control switch assembly, the front plate has at an angle closer to the hood and is not perpendicular. It would be a great improvement if the front plate had a pull open /pull again to close support arm which would allow the front plate to be positioned optimally for operation.
